Celebrating Life

The time between birthdays seems to decrease as they get older. In the last month we celebrated 12 and 10 for these two kids.

The almost teen is developing his sense of humor and honing the timing of delivery. He is the oldest sibling - without a doubt. At a new school this year, he played soccer and basketball and enjoyed being a part of the team more than he expected too.

This young lady has quite a heart. She demands affection and attention but this challenges me to soften who I am as mother of a sweet girl. She joined volleyball this year and also was a cheerleader. She loves to join so she won't miss out.  

 

We hosted my parents for DJ's birthday and took them to the Museum of Science and Industry to tour the U505.  The U505 was a German sub captured by the Navy during WWII.  I'm not a huge history buff, but really enjoyed this story and the tour. 

My inspiration for elaborate cake designs has disappeared. So numbers have served as a good back-up. Thankfully the kids continue to enjoy cake!

We have kept the tradition alive of visiting someplace for the birthday kid. It's low key and outside the norm of a large party.  Mia had the pleasure of visiting the American Girl store yesterday where she was able to pamper Cecile. We ended the celebration day with cake and ice cream. As we said good night she was lamenting the end to her special day.

We enjoyed cake with these two; our life line in maneuvering the daily school and work schedules. It is a true blessing to have their dedication towards helping us manage.
